About The Role
The HR (HC) Assistant will support the Human Capital (HC) team in delivering an effective, generalist HC service to managers and employees across the organisation. They will ensure all HC administrative tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard, gaining exposure to a broad range of HC activities including recruitment, onboarding, learning & development, employee engagement, compliance, and digital communication.
This role supports the organisation’s long‑term talent pipeline and contributes to projects aligned with business strategy.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality HC administrative support to the HC team across all HC processes.
- Act as the first point of contact for general queries, through monitoring the HC inbox, liaising with managers and employees to provide timely responses.
- Support the full recruitment process, including: Advertising roles externally, utilising recruitment agencies and social media, managing the company candidate database, coordinating interviews with HC and line managers, attending recruitment events to promote the business and available roles
- Assist with onboarding new employees: Drafting contracts of employment, sending new starter paperwork, creating induction programmes, updating HC management systems with new starter information
- Provide support to managers on HC issues, escalating complex matters to the wider HC team as needed.
- Support compliance and administration, ensuring all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual tasks are completed and HC files are maintained accurately.
- Lead on HC system maintenance
- Take ownership of updating, maintaining, and troubleshooting HC systems to ensure all information is accurate, secure, and up to date.
- Proactively identify and resolve system issues, and support system improvements and digitalisation initiatives.
- Generate and update HC reports.
- Take minutes at disciplinary and grievance meetings.
- Support the organisation and administration of internal and external training courses, ensuring all training is recorded and certificates are filed.
- Assist with the delivery of key projects, including, Employer Branding, Learning & Development and Employee Engagement.
- Support engagement initiatives and digital communication internally.
- Manage and own your professional development in order to achieve your work objectives and your career and personal goal
- Project Work: Lead or support assigned project work as part of the programme, prepare and present project updates to key stakeholders.
About You
- Educated to degree level (or working towards) in a relevant subject is advantageous, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Experience (placement or 1 year) in a busy HR environment is desirable, but not essential.
- Knowledge of HR systems (e.g., SAP HR) is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate workload independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages or similar digital tools.
- Able to work effectively and respectfully with people from all backgrounds and at all levels. - Understanding of office environments and professional conduct.
- Self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
