Apprentice Maintenance Planner
Purpose of the Role
To support the planning, scheduling, and documentation of maintenance activities across the site, gaining hands-on experience in maintenance coordination and asset management. Working alongside experienced engineers and planners, the apprentice will develop the skills needed to contribute to asset reliability, compliance, and efficient operations.
Main Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Support the creation and updating of maintenance schedules using the CMMS
- Assist in prioritising work based on safety and operational needs
- Help coordinate planned maintenance activities and shutdowns
- Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams
Work Orders
- Assist in recording and updating maintenance activities in the CMMS
- Support tracking of outstanding tasks and maintenance backlog
- Learn how to review and close work orders accurately and on time
Contractors
- Support the coordination of contractors working on site
- Assist in ensuring contractors follow safety standards and procedures
- Learn how permits, risk assessments, and documentation are managed
- Build positive working relationships with internal teams and contractors
Assets & Compliance
- Support maintaining accurate asset records and maintenance history
- Learn about health, safety, environmental, and process safety standards (including COMAH)
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and inspections
- Support safe and compliant practices that protect people and stakeholders
Continuous Improvement
- Learn how to review maintenance data to identify trends and issues
- Support initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
- Contribute ideas to improve systems and ways of working
- Develop understanding of how maintenance creates value for the business
Working Conditions
- The working hours will be 37 hours per week.
- Formal modern apprentice training will be provided by external trainer.
- Practical training will be provided on site.

Qualifications
- No formal qualifications required
- Interest in engineering, maintenance, or industrial operations
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong willingness to learn and develop in a technical environment
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Clear communication and ability to work with different teams
- Basic IT skills; willingness to learn new systems (e.g. CMMS)
- Interest in technical information (training provided)
- Awareness of health & safety or willingness to learn
Desirable
- Interest in whisky, distilling, or manufacturing
- Basic engineering or mechanical understanding
- Previous experience in a practical or technical setting
